Leona LaurenLeona Louise Lewis (born on the 3rd April, 1985) is a British performer, songwriter, actress and activist. Born in the London Borough Of Islington she attended the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology, Croydon. Lewis was able to gain not only national recognition when she took home The X Factor's third series in the year 2006. The singer also signed a PS1 million recording contract with Syco Music. The winner's single and was a cover Kelly Clarkson's song "A Moment like This", reached 50,000 downloads in just 30 minutes and reached the top spot for 4 weeks. Clive Davis's label, J Records, signed Lewis to a contract for five albums for the United States. Lewis's successes continued when she debuted her first album Spirit (2007). The album received platinum certification in the UK it became the fourth best-selling album in the 2000s. The Official Charts Company claims that Spirit was the top-selling album of the 21st century. debut album by a female. The first single, "Bleeding Love", was a seven-week standout at number one in the UK and was the highest-priced single of the year. Also, it was the biggest-sold single in the US during the same time. Lewis won the Billboard Best New Artist Award next year. Echo was her sophomore studio album. Lewis also composed the song "I See You" for Avatar. Lewis's track "Collide," was written in collaboration with Swedish DJ Avicii and she also released Hurt the EP, her first extended play. Her third studio album, Glassheart (2012), brought a brand new direction to her music for Lewis taking the inspiration of dubstep and electronic music. Lewis began recording music for her Christmas debut album while on her Glassheart Tour, which took between mid-2013. Following that, her album Christmas with Love with Love, featuring her lead single "One more time" it reached the top three spot in the UK. Lewis who is who is a British female solo artist, was the first British solo artist to break the top five with eight songs. The record is higher than Olivia Newton John's record which included seven singles.
