Lars Mikkelsen

Lars MikkelsenHe was enrolled at the National Theatre School of Denmark at the age of 27. He graduated in 1995. In addition to his performance as the lead actor in The Killing, he also appeared in two other critically well-known Danish drama series: Those Who Kill, and Borgen III. He also appeared in episodes of BBC drama Sherlock as Charles Augustus Magnussen (blackmailer). He played Russia's president on the American television series House of Cards. He was awarded an International Emmy Award in 2018 for his role in Danish TV drama Herrens Veje, which was broadcast in the UK in 2019 under the name Ride Upon the Storm. In addition to his home country of Danish, Mikkelsen speaks fluent Swedish, German and English and has learned diverse accents. Mikkelsen stated that he and his brother learned English initially through listening to Monty Python recordings and watching comedy sketches.
